Track: A Horse With No Name

Lyrics
On the first part of the journey
I was looking at all the life
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound

I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain

After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
And after three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed
And the story it told of a river that flowed
Made me sad to think it was dead

You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain

After nine days I let the horse run free
'Cause the desert had turned to sea
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings
The ocean is a desert with it's life underground
And a perfect disguise above
Under the cities lies a heart made of ground
But the humans will give no love

You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain

A Horse With No Name Meanings & Lyrics Discussion
dadscc discusses the meanings of A Horse With No Name lyrics: This song was so overplayed in my childhood I turned it off everytime it came on as an adult. So I never really knew what it was about. Heres my take: The rain is failed romantic relationships. The dessert is time spend alone and seeing all the life he has inside himself. Learning who he is and all that he has to offer. The horse with no name is the desire that drives us to be alone and figure ourselves out. If we are in that place of taking some time to be alone and friends ask how we're doing, we just say ok. We don't know how to talk about this that drives us to take time for introspection so we really don't name it. "ain't no one for to give you no pain", there is no drama in a life of solitude and there is only so much time we can spend there till we have had enough light shine on our skin, who we are. The ocean being a desert is him discovering that being with someone or in a crowd, we can still be very alone. Our aloneness is just disgui
